Psalm 16:7-8a

“I bless the LORD, who gives me counsel; in the night also my heart instructs me. I have set the LORD always before me.”

I have been convicted about how often I reach for my phone. So many times a day, I go to my phone for answers. When I need to get someplace new, I use my phone for directions. When I have a question, I run to Google. When I have a quick thought, I jot it down in my Notes app. When I’m feeling lonely, I go to text or call a loved one. When I want a distractions, I work on the Wordle of the day or check my email. My phone is nearly always right by me.

I want God (and His Word) to always be before me, though. There are so many times I run to my phone when I should be running to the Lord. I want to run to Him for counsel and to let my heart meditate on Him and His statutes. This passage has convicted me—and encouraged me. I can run to the Lord, and He will run to meet me. He will guide my paths and give me wisdom.

Praise the LORD!
